Exam Development: Designed to meet your needs.
In order to become a testing client, your program must be an ABC Certification Program Member. ABC testing clients have access to our nationally validated item banks of questions. Although we retain ownership of all ABC-developed exam questions, your program has access to new questions developed by ABC while you're a testing client.
To meet the individual needs of your program, clients have the option of using ABC’s standardized exams or to develop client-customized exams.
Standardized Exams
During national exam development workshops held every two years, subject matter experts from each exam category work together to review and select the questions that will appear on standardized exams. Two forms of the exam are developed to be used for a two-year period.
ABC staff and technical V&E Committees monitor the performance of standardized examination questions and examinee comments throughout the term of their use to identify and address any issues. Clients using this option are assured that they are always using the most updated version of exam questions.
Modified Standardized
A testing client may replace up to 10% of the questions on an ABC standardized exam. This option allows you to include program-specific regulatory or technology questions on your exams; replacement questions may be selected from ABC’s item bank or provided by your program. Replacing more than 10% of the questions on the standardized exams is considered a client-customized exam.
Customized
This option allows you to create an exam unique to your program. Developed by ABC staff according to your specifications, the exam is tailored to your program’s specific technology and regulatory requirements. A customized exam may include ABC questions only, your program’s questions only, or both.
